I think it would be awesome if you could save files directly as gifs, since everything is in black and white. Also, it would be awesome if you could export an anigif and set how often a frame is added (such as a after the program breaks free from a function or recursive call, or every 3000 shapes added, or other points).

The images aren't black-and-white, color is supported.
Also, you can write a wrapper-shell-script in unix to convert things into an animated GIF ('convert' will import .png's just fine, and just increment the N (nesting) parameter each time), though that isn't necessarily user-friendly enough for everybody.
