I have just created a few pages in the documentation wiki that try to put gallery images into categories. I am not sure of the final format - eventually I could write another wikimedia template to help get things looking nice, but it is at least a start. Currently it uses the mid-sized images - I am not sure what this will do to server load.

I think it could be nice, so that we could tag some keywords to certain images, like "audio" or "creature" or something, and search for these easier.

I'm working on a tag engine for the gallery. It's based on phptagengine.
